Job Description
General Scope And Summary


SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role as a Scientist II Consultant, Electrophysiology and Neural Circuits. The candidate will work within the Electrophysiology and Neural Circuits team to support ongoing lead optimization and early research programs. The position requires collaboration with scientists within Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Information Technology to ensure efficient experimental execution and seamless integration of data into Sages databases.


Roles And Responsibilities


  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and leadership across departments.
  • Design, oversee, and interpret in vitro pharmacology studies for ion channel-based discovery projects.
  • Act as in vitro pharmacology interface with early discovery project teams providing communication of data, diligence, and presentation of relevant pharmacological insights.
  • Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and apply this knowledge to the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver scientific reports and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Provide diligence for new vendor identification.
  • Interface with the Informatics team to develop, optimize, and implement storage and analysis templates.
  • Independently manage workflows and relationships with external vendors, including study request, experimental design, study tracking, compound shipping, and data capture and upload.


Basic Qualifications


Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills


  • PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, physiology, or related scientific discipline with 2+ years of relevant industry experience; MS with 6+ years of relevant experience; or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience interacting with external vendors and with outsourced R&D models.
  • Experience using a range of data informatics tools.
  • Expert in ion channel physiology who possesses knowledge and familiarity with high throughput ion channel screening platforms.
