Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Process Engineer II is responsible for technical support of refinery operation with specific emphasis on process improvement through continuous improvements, process changes and hardware upgrades. Scope of improvement efforts to be primarily throughput, energy and water efficiency, safety, environment and quality.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use continuous improvement tools as the primary methodology to identify, quantify, direct and implement refinery improvements.
  • Technical liaison including production/maintenance employees, plant technical and management resources, corporate engineering and R&D organizations.
  • Work with operators to understand the current state and collaboratively develop and implement process improvements.
  • Review existing operations and identify opportunities for improvement using sound engineering principles.
  • Justify, design, install and commission capital projects up.


WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with process operations in a manufacturing environment required.


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar science/engineering degree from an accredited college/university with related coursework required


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Effective leader of internal project team efforts and site activities of contractors on assigned projects


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Experience of continuous improvement methodology e.g. Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Ability to confidently engage operators to understand the processes that are in place and provide coaching during improvements.
  • Familiar with broad range of process systems & material handling equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and be a change agent for process improvements.
  • Confidently use sound engineering principles to challenge existing operations and develop improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated project design/development experience
    • Able to prepare PFD’s & P&ID’s with electronic CAD tools
    • Familiar with broad range of process systems & material handling equipment
  • Able to prepare PFD’s & P&ID’s with electronic CAD tools
  • Experience of successfully leading teams to make changes through capital projects or large operating changes.
