OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE/ SCOPE
The Oncology Cell Therapy Innovation team seeks a highly qualified immunologist with a strong background in immune-oncology and innate cell immunology. The chosen applicant will be essential in improving cell therapy platforms such as CAR-NK and CAR-γδT, to augment their function, potency, and persistence through creative experimentation. They will join a discovery-stage process development team focused on innovating novel cell therapy production methods that generate desirable changes in the biology of NK and γδT cells through small molecule signaling and metabolic control, among other strategies. Their knowledge of immunology will be instrumental in discovering the most desirable cell states driving potent anti-tumor function. Utilizing their knowledge of innate cell biology, such as immune cell activation, survival, proliferation, function, and cancer/immune biology in the tumor microenvironment, they will direct discovery projects and work with colleagues across departmental and cross-functional teams to advance the development of Cell Therapy discovery platforms.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design, execute, and interpret functional in vitro and ex vivo assays to understand the mechanism-of-action and play an active role in subsequent scientific discussions to drive decisions.
- Scientifically independent.

- Develops and oversees novel scientific projects and will manage the work of others in a matrixed structure.
- Acts as the recognized scientific resource on an aspect of a program.

- Provides information to group to influence direction, departmental goals and/or business.
- Contribute to discovery projects by independently designing and developing well-defined mechanistic experiments and projects within oncology cell therapy research.
- Lead from the lab to advance novel and differentiated cell therapy products toward clinical milestones, by working collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Receives high level instructions on work; determines methods on new assignments; greater demonstrated independence; may manage junior staff
- Propose novel projects based on internal results, external partners, and published reports and demonstrate leadership through effective communication of study plans/value, and research results.
- Collaborates with others and acts as scientific resource for an aspect of a program.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Cell therapy process design or process development experience is desirable, but not required.
- Individual should possess a Ph.D. in Immunology, Biology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with CAR-T, CAR-NK, CAR-γδT, and TCR-T cell therapies/immunotherapies is required, including cell culture, immune cell activation/expansion, and viral transduction for various types of immune cells.
- A minimum of 3+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry/academic experience is required after graduation.
- A track record of publications to demonstrate scientific expertise is preferred.
- The individual should have significant skills in in vitro and in vivo immune cell characterization and function assessment, such as multi-color flow immunophenotyping, multiplex cytokine measurement, cytotoxicity assays, and other molecular-based assays.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team are required.

Base Salary Range: $105,000 - 186,000.00. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.
The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
