The Miami Project To Cure Paralysis is currently seeking a Full Time Scientist in the area of Bioinformatics to work at UHealth. The Scientist, SOM supports the University’s research goals and objectives by engaging in complex experiments and investigations in a range of areas, depending on specialty and interests. Moreover, an employee in this position contributes to the scientific community and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field.

  • Prepares research proposals and funding applications.
  • Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
  • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
  • Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Oversees research employees, students, and other relevant staff.
  • Attend lab meetings and department seminars
  • Supervise and teach other trainees
  • Assists in the development of training materials for research staff.
  • Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.
  • Ability to work with multiple labs on different projects simultaneously
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.
  • Assist in writing grant applications and scientific manuscripts
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Bioinformatics scientist with experience in computational approaches to analyzing transcriptomics and other omics data related to nervous system injuries

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Ph.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree in relevant field

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
