Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Revvity has a rewarding and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Scientist 1 for our Custom Processing laboratory with focus on PerkinElmer specific products. The Scientist 1 position will perform primary tasks in an ISO 9001:2015 laboratory in Lafayette, CO. Key responsibilities for this position include a wide array of duties related to the manufacturing, processing, and packaging of RNA and DNA oligonucleotides. This includes analytical testing, purification, final disposition, and packaging of specialty oligo products for Revvity and other customers as needed. The position will require the ability to learn, troubleshoot, and maintain all laboratory equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be willing to work in a lab with hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintain proper lab maintenance and upkeep per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and 5S standards.
  • Identify laboratory processes and/or equipment abnormalities and assist in investigation, testing, and re-validation as necessary.
  • Assist in installation, testing, qualification, and implementation of all laboratory equipment for the new lab area focused on PKI product.
  • Assist in the manufacturing of Custom oligonucleotides as needed for our customers using established protocols.
  • Collect requested data and communicate them to Manager and/or Team Lead.
  • Assist in the training of new and current employees and provide guidance for error prevention.
  • Fulfill other trainings, tasks and responsibilities as assigned and/or required.
  • Accurately and effectively complete basic equipment tasks including, but not limited to, AX and Reverse Phase purification system set-up and operation, analytical testing, laboratory clean-up, planning workload based on priorities, and final packaging of product.
  • Conduct quality control testing using HPLC, LCMS, UV-VIS spectroscopy, and other analytical testing as needed.
  • Lead and/or participate in improvement projects utilizing continuous improvement tools and assistance from Process Development team.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete final packaging of customer samples.
  • Process and purify customer samples, specifically PerkinElmer (PKI) products, using Anion Exchange and Reverse Phase HPLC purification methods using multiple purification platforms.
  • Prioritize workload to meet customer needs and new product launches.
  • Cross-train to ensure the capability to complete the primary tasks in each of the Custom Manufacturing laboratories, including, but not limited to, Custom Oligonucleotide Synthesis and Post Synthetic Processing.
  • Comply with all EH&S regulations and policies.
  • Assist in the implementation of new processes and procedures.

REQUIRED CRITERIA AND COMPENTENCIES
  • Expanded understanding with laboratory standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to regularly move items weighing 30-60 pounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to learn, troubleshoot, and operate specialized laboratory equipment, computers, and instrumentation software.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistries, modifications, and methodologies.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 3 or more years relevant laboratory experience.
  • Proactive go getter with a bias for action and fixing problems that arise in the lab or with equipment.
  • Bachelor's in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) or a closely related field.

COMPENSATION RANGE
60,000 to $80,000
This is the good faith range we believe is possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
