Our work is grounded in a commitment to excellence, equity, and justice. We believe all students have the right to rigorous, relevant, and joyful learning experiences led by exceptionally talented and diverse educators who promote student achievement and a sense of belonging. We believe students and teachers best succeed when surrounded by an ecosystem of supports, including our central headquarters team that supports KIPP DC’s 20 schools, 7,300 students, and 1,300 teachers, leaders, and staff members dedicated to this mission.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The School Operations Manager will be based at one of the KIPP DC Campuses, which houses an Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle School. This position will be responsible for supporting one of the schools across a range of business functions. The School Operations Manager is responsible for implementing financial and business functions that streamline performance between the school site and headquarters, while at the same time helping create and sustain policies and systems that support the schools’ mission and culture of achievement. The School Operations Manager is an exempt position that will report to the Campus Director of Operations on campus while also being accountable to the principals at the school site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC’s staff, including supporting school-wide events, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC’s mission.
  • National School Lunch Program (15%). Support Headquarters- and school-based compliance requirements by maintaining accurate lunch forms for each school, auditing and compiling accurate monthly lunch counts, and collecting lunch payments from students.
  • Procurement and Inventory (20%). Manage procurement and purchasing at the school site, including supplies, furniture and equipment, and information technology investments. Maintain inventory and manage fixed assets tracking. Work with teachers and administrative staff to implement procurement processes that synchronize with Headquarters financial systems.
  • Facilities (20%). Serve as the main point of contact at the school for all facilities-related issues, including coordinating efforts among all facilities personnel, security personnel, and external vendors.
  • Finance (40%). Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other financial operations, including credit cards, petty cash, and reimbursements. Oversee financial aspects of school operations by tracking spending and identifying trends, preparing financial reports monthly, approving invoices to ensure compliance with accounting standards, and analyzing budget and spending data to advise principals on best ways to allocate funds.
Health Responsibilities (5%). Oversee and support school-based COVID contact tracing and testing efforts in partnership with the regional COVID team and school teams.
