Job Description
Inserso is seeking to provide an MECM (Microsoft End Point Configuration Manager) Applications Packager to support our DHS customer at their Chandler, AZ facility. MECM is the new name for the more commonly known Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) environment. This position is responsible for standardizing and centrally managing groups of computers and establishing and documenting defined baselines, system parameters and formats. This position manages the distribution of data, ensuring hardware and software systems compatibility, and ensure logs and alerts are available to assist in monitoring activities. The SCCM Application Packager creates, tests, and deploys SCCM applications in SCCM using PowerShell scripts.

This position reports to the Enterprise Services and Tools Operations & Maintenance (ESTOM) Team Lead. The Team supports the customer’s core hours, 7 AM – 7 PM ET, and afterhours support is provided by a rotating on-call team roster.

This role will include, but will not be limited to the following responsibilities:
  • As directed, create, update, deploy, troubleshoot, and remove objects in the SCCM environment comprised of, sites, distribution points (DPs), and clients
  • Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists
  • Work with appointed system & application owners to explain output and reports, and provide SME knowledge of findings
  • Create, update, and delete dynamic and static collections and reports for installation, modification, and removal of applications
  • Provide weekly activity reports describing activities accomplished
  • Using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012/2016/2019
  • Provide routine and out of cycle reports to the system administrators and management detailing the findings in the required reports
  • Creating deployment packages for COTS and custom applications in an SCCM enterprise environment (30,000+ users)
  • Respond to application requests within 3 business days and complete the creation of the SCCM application package within 7 business days
  • Using SCCM reporting, including running compliance reports and creating customize reporting
  • Experience:
    • Using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012/2016/2019
    • Using SCCM reporting, including running compliance reports and creating customize reporting
    • Creating deployment packages for COTS and custom applications in an SCCM enterprise environment (30,000+ users)
    • Validating and executing packages within the SCCM environment
  • Effectively lead detailed technical discussions and develop and present required briefing materials to ensure the customer’s needs are met
  • Validating and executing packages within the SCCM environment
  • Manage trouble ticket queues; perform trend and root-cause analysis to resolve groups of trouble tickets; document efforts in the trouble ticket system
  • Thoroughly evaluate, validate, and create application packages and validation cases, and ensure that SCCM packages provide detailed logs; document and provide evaluation results
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Experience administrating Microsoft Windows Server environments (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Experience and knowledge in building scripts with PowerShell and SQL (e.g., AutoIT, batch file scripting, Wise Script, WINbatch) for needs of unique application/package builds
  • Experience and hands-on experience with SQL queries and VB Script
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience using SCCM for deployment or relevant IT system administration
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Windows Desktop OS Win10 & Win 11

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g. Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.)
  • ITIL certified
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Installer to deploy multiple custom applications, Cumulative Updates and Service pack
  • Experience supporting DHS or other similar federal agencies
  • Administering and Deploying System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Certification (or ability to obtain it within 90-days of start)
