Rockstar Games is on the lookout for an energetic Scan Capture Specialist, experienced in face scanning and directing mobile data acquisition sessions, who will be directing shoots at Rockstar’s unique performance capture studio located in Long Island, NY.
What We Do

• Work alongside other departments in the R&D of various aspects of our pipelines pertaining to scan data like body and facial rigging, animation, and character art.
• Instruct talents to meet specific performance expectations during scan shoots, including Facial Action Coding System requirements.
• Direct scan shoots for face and body data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Create training material for talents and to assist QA review process of acquired data.
• Review and produce reports post scan shoots, classify data acquired, and approve final shots to be processed by the computing farm.
• Direct all scan shoots for 3D and 4D data acquisition.
• Liaise with other department’s leadership to define requirements for data capture.
• Document and provide feedback on the hardware and software setup, working with our teams to improve scanning processes.
• Create a comfortable friendly working environment for the talent and team to assist in getting the best performance.
• Innovate and document ways of capturing scans physically and through pipelines.
• Calibrate and maintain Scan Rigs for optimal performance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience directing/working with actors.
• Proficiency in Facial Action Coding System (FACS).
• Genuine enthusiasm for facial and body anatomy and motion.

Skills

• Proven experience directing scan shoots for 3D static poses and 4D sequences.
• General knowledge of 3D asset creation pipelines for games or films.
• Experience operating multi camera scan rig 3D/4D.
• Proven knowledge of DSLR and or machine vision cameras.
• Proven knowledge of Photogrammetry.
• Have technical knowledge of the anatomy of various types of scan rigs.
• Experience in correctly exposing, framing and lighting subjects for scanning.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

• In-depth familiarity of Rockstar products.
• Experience using photogrammetry software Metashape/RC.
• Quick problem solving of technical and physical issues.
• Certification as proficient Facial Action Coding System (FACS) coder.
• Experience in NeRFs, Lidar and other forms of 3D Capture.
• Experience setting up a face/body scan rig.
• Experience teaching/training.
• Experience using multicam software CaptureGRID/Breeze.

The pay range for this position in New York City at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
