Job Summary

ClutchPoints’ San Antonio Spurs Reporter will lead our on-site reporting coverage for the Spurs. They will need to be credentialed for games and practices in San Antonio and write timely, engaging content in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has been credentialed for sporting events before, has a strong understanding of the 24/7 news cycle, is adept at making relationships with players, coaches, agents and execs and is well-versed in sharing their content on social media and various digital sports platforms.

Duties

• Send published articles for distribution to our social media channels
• Write trending real-time news and analysis articles focusing on postgame coverage
• Ideate and write in-depth opinion editorial topics based on trending news stories
• Identify content opportunities to maximize real-time traffic utilizing our internal content strategy and identification guide
• Communicate with graphics team on creative thumbnails for your content
• Report off press conferences, obtain exclusive interviews and shoot video to capture viral content as appropriate
• Follow our breaking news protocol to quickly capitalize on stories in real-time
• Communicate with editorial team to optimize SEO-winning search headlines and story composition
• Attend home games and practices for the Spurs
• Track Google Trends for content ideas for the Spurs

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of sports reporting experience
• Ability to multitask multiple objectives
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of trending NBA news and how to craft stories/headlines to capitalize on those moments
• Proficiency with SEO preferred
• Passion and advanced understanding of the Spurs and the NBA at large
• Experience with editorial and content creation for the Spurs and the NBA at large
• Available to work on nights and weekends, as the NBA schedule dictates
