This is a remote position with a preference of being based within the state of Texas.
Advance Local is actively seeking a Podcast Reporter for our brand-new website launching this summer to oversee the podcast production process, including planning, recording, editing, and promoting compelling audio content. This position will collaborate with our news, sports and life + culture teams to create and produce unique podcasts, designed to engage and connect with Texans.
With so much competition in the podcast space, we are looking to produce unique shows that reflect the diversity and authenticity of Texas. Help us tell stories that capture the imagination and attention of Texans, using audio, video and short-form clips to grow listenership.
What you'll be doing:

• Creating show outlines and scripts with assistance from staff reporters and editors
• Building out a portfolio of shows focused on Texas news, sports and culture
• Collaborating with hosts, arranging guest interviews, researching topics, ensuring audio quality
• Recording, producing and publishing podcasts
• Promoting podcasts on social networks, within article pages and through other distributed channels (e.g., YouTube, Twitch) to reach and engage a wide audience

Our ideal candidates will have the following:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum two years’ experience with a proven ability to record, edit, produce and promote podcasts
• Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately
• Ability to leverage relationships with sources to deliver content that differentiates the organization from competitors
• Portfolio of work showcasing your unique voice and vision
• Understanding of the methods and tools used to deliver content across a variety of platforms
• Experience using social media to source and promote content
