Job Description
SAFETY OFFICER SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION: Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Center?s Safety Program. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages and directs the operation of the Center?s security program. Conducts investigations of accidents and incidents with the goal of resolution and reduction of future occurrences. Provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff. Establishes liaison and maintains harmonious relations with local law enforcement agencies. Provides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for security staff. Manages and administers a departmental budget and works within budgetary constraints. Approves requisitions for security equipment, supplies and materials. Oversees inventory control and maintenance of security equipment, supplies and materials. Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures. Assists the center in every effort necessary to achieve its OMS goals, as well as ensuring that the Zero Tolerance Policy is strictly adhered to. Promotes a positive work environment demonstrating career success standards and core values. Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Proven management experience within the security industry, public sector or armed services. Proven track record of building strong relationships with colleagues at all levels Working knowledge of security best practices and legislation affecting the security role Ability to understand, control and track direct spending and labor budgets Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication (written and verbal). Proven record of sound judgment and decision making skills, with a ?hands on?, problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently Proficient in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis. EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in military and/or law enforcement; one of which was in a supervisory capacity. OTHER: Must possess a valid Driver?s License with an acceptable driving record. Must possess or obtain valid commercial Driver?s License Class B with passenger endorsement within three months of hire.
