Job Description
The Safety Officer will protect our premises, assets, agency staff, and clients. The Safety Officer will also partner with program staff to engage with clients and patients to aid and promote safe, therapeutic environments across campus programs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Conduct security screenings with visitors.
  • Maintain records that reflect the facility’s safety programs.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and post orders.
  • Project a calm demeanor with patients/clients and visitors.
  • Work in collaboration with program staff to promote a safe environment for clients, patients, and staff across campus programs.
  • Monitor campus for trespassers and unauthorized vehicles.
  • Ensure all incident reporting and documentation relating to patient/client restraints or other reportable safety events are timely completed.
  • Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions.
  • Respond to security and fire alarms on campus by investigating and assessing the situation in order to assist with any related patient/client issues. Provide assistance to people in need.
  • Submit detailed daily activity reports (DARs) and complete Incident Reports when necessary.
  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Safety and Security and/or the Agency leadership concerning safety procedures.
  • Develop methods for coordinating security services with other departments.
  • Respond to calls for assistance across campus including, but not limited to, assistance to help de-escalate situations involving patients/clients in a therapeutically appropriate manner using least restrictive methods.
  • Utilize therapeutic de-escalation techniques and milieu philosophies in all interactions with patients/clients.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Three years of experience as safety officer, school resources officer, security guard, or equivalent position preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of public safety and basic security protocols.
  • Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
