GENERAL SUMMARY
Safety Consultants USA, Inc. is looking for a Safety Specialist with experience in a manufacturing environment. The candidate must pride themselves on their ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to complex problems to join our team. This role is a great opportunity to create an exceptional physical environment and to ensure that workers and the general public are kept safe and out of harm’s way.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare written safety programs and make recommendations to enhance existing programs to achieve higher standards of safety.
· Implementation of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and conduct training on Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
· Must be a certified OSHA 501 Train the Trainer.
· Perform site safety audits in manufacturing and general industry facilities.
· Conduct safety incident investigations and complete associated infraction reports.
· Conduct safety training.
· Conduct air and noise monitoring testing in manufacturing and general industry facilities.
· Perform all duties in accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- The chosen applicant must be an organized, self-starter, flexible to change in schedule, able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Be computer literate and possess the ability to learn multiple software programs the firm uses to conduct business.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, emergency response and incident management.
- Must have excellent customer service skills necessary to interact with senior level management and external clients, as well as, foster an environment of cooperation between different departments, OSHA and co-workers.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Candidate must have a reliable vehicle. Travel to job sites is 50% weekly. Out of town travel is required but will be home on weekends.
- Ability to be flexible for workday start time – early mornings are sometimes required.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check.
- Candidate is required to be bilingual, English/Spanish.
- Be able to work as an individual contributor and as a team member.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the environmental health and safety field.
- Must have excellent writing skills.
