Job Description

Our Elk Grove Village branch is looking for a new Road Logistics Specialist to join our Road Logistics team.

Your Role

You will report to the Road Logistics Manager. You will work directly with carriers and the Road Logistics Team. You will be an asset to the division. You will work a hybrid schedule in our Elk Grove Village, IL office. #LI-Hybrid

Your Responsibilities

  • You will be a liaison between the shipper and carrier to provide tactical solutions that improve the daily operation.
  • Monitor shipments in transit and resolve issues.
  • You will work directly with carriers (dry van, flat bed, and temp control) to ensure that loads are picked up and delivered.
  • Resolve discrepancies on freight bills (electronic and paper) and determine cause and corrective action.
  • You will use optimization software to help plan loads and select the least cost mode (TL vs. LTL vs. Pool Distribution).
  • You will identify trends through Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and provide solutions for cost reduction or service improvement.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • A team player who can work well with all levels of an organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience. A degree in Transportation, Supply Chain, or Logistics would be ideal.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • 0.5 to 2 years of road logistics experience.
