Rn Periop101, Operating Room

RWJBH is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Periop 101 Course in the Operating Room at the New Brunswick campus. The work schedule is typically an 8-hour day shift including every other weekend. This is a full-time 40-hour work week. Shifts may vary throughout the course to provide appropriate training.

Position Description:

The Operating Room at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a dynamic and fast-paced clinical environment. As part of a care delivery team, the Operating Room Registered Nurse is critical in assuring safe, compassionate and competent care to all surgical patients.

This Periop 101 course consists of 12 weeks of didactic education (hrs are 7:00 am-3:30 pm for this portion of the training) and 12-16 weeks of clinical preceptor-ship designed to build confidence in clinical practice (hours/shifts are variable for this part of the course). Upon successful completion of the Periop 101 Core curriculum course, the participant will assume a role as a Registered Nurse within the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Operating Room at the New Brunswick Campus. There is no guarantee of a specific shift and/or standard working hours at the completion of the program as department needs will dictate what is available.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Individuals selected for the program will need to complete a contract agreement.

• Individuals selected for the program will need to complete a Preoperative 101 program agreement.
  • This agreement will be reviewed with applicants during the interview process.
• Registered Nurses interested in joining this program should be prepared to work in a fast-paced & physically demanding environment.
• PALS and ACLS are required within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• This agreement will be reviewed with applicants during the interview process.
• BSN required OR ASN and willing to sign 5-year agreement to obtain BSN.
• Critical thinking and strong ability to prioritize required.
• Active, valid NJ Registered Nurse license.
