Job Description
Residential Specialist - Carroll County - Eldersburg Shift Schedule 5:30PM to 9:30PM Monday- Friday


General Description


The Residential Specialist implements individual's rehabilitation plans by providing direct psychiatric rehabilitation services and skills training to individuals recovering from mental illness. The Residential Specialist works with consumers in their homes by providing the support to assist consumers in developing the skills necessary for independence and success. This person reports to the Residential Coordinator or the Program Director.


Required Education, Knowledge and Skill Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions:


A high school diploma is required and experience in human service delivery is preferred. Ability to work as a part of a team is necessary. A good driving record is also essential. Ability to respect individual choice in the recovery process and a commitment to recovery through the psychiatric rehabilitation process is required. Also, this position requires good verbal communication skills and the understanding to respect the abilities and limitations of consumers. CNA, GNA and/or Med Tech Certified a plus.


Summary Of Essential Functions, Responsibilities And Duties


  • Communicate with supervisors and other employees to ensure continuum of service
  • Assist consumers with independent living skills
  • Facilitate group and individual activities
  • Assist with/and or clean individuals' homes as need
  • Assist consumers with implementing Individual Rehabilitation Plans to reach goals
  • Perform medication monitoring
  • Confirm that medication cabinet is empty each shift and correct medications are available at the houses
  • Provide transportation to assist consumers in using community resources
  • Perform other duties as requested by shift leader and/or supervisor
  • Engage in crisis management
  • Provide residential program coverage
  • Utilize Time and Attendance System and verify time on last day worked in pay cycle
  • Document activities and services in logbook, service forms, incident reports and progress notes in a timely manner
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record to document and record services provided
