We are looking for TOP TALENTED Resident Engineer and Construction Managers who want to do great work for the people of the tri-state region!
NJ TRANSIT has several exciting opportunities for various Resident Engineer and Construction Manager positions in the Capital Planning and Programs Department.
These positions report to a Construction Program Manager. The position duties include, but are not limited to inspection and monitoring of construction activities for projects which may include reconstruction, rehabilitation and/or repairs to: bus facilities and bus infrastructure; rail facilities and rail infrastructure; and bridges and/or complex bridge structures. The positions require individuals who will ensure contractor conformance with contract plans and specifications. Duties also require the review of routine construction submittals, including progress schedules and updates, cost estimates and material submissions. An understanding of NJT Bus and Rail Operations is preferred. Selected candidates will be required to work in both an office setting and on active construction project sites. Experience with report preparation, meeting administration and quantity calculations is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
The positions require bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Engineering, Architecture or a related technical field and 5-10 years of experience in construction engineering management. The position and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
Resident Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Engineering, Architecture or a related technical field from a U.S. Department of Education accredited college or university, and five (5) years of applied progressively responsible experience in construction engineering management.
Construction Manager
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Engineering, Architecture or a related technical field from a U.S. Department of Education accredited college or university, and six (6) years of applied progressively responsible experience in construction engineering management. Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license desirable.
