Minimum Requirements
Associate's degree in a related field and one or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
Position Description
Laboratory Technologist will assist in any research in the laboratory. The focus of the work in the laboratory is the structure and function in the normal and diseased retina.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collect/prepare materials for research reports.
  • Assist in and potentially perform assessment and analysis of retinal structure (fundus imaging and ocular coherence tomography & retinal function ffERG) prior to and after therapeutic interventions.
  • Assist in surgical procedures.
  • Assist and support postdoctoral associates (and graduate students) with paperwork related to experiment scheduling.
  • Assist the research staff in all experiments, including washing dishes, making solutions, general lab maintenance and ordering.
  • Assist and potentially learn to perform ocular coherence imaging of the retina.
  • Assist in record keeping and maintaining data.
  • Set up imaging files and quantify those images. Help to direct the work of others on this aspect of the project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some familiarity with Word, Excel and editing PDF files.
  • Some laboratory or animal husbandry skill
  • Any experience with PCR or Immunohistochemistry is preferred
  • Any knowledge of the function or morphology of the retina and nervous system is preferred
