Role Overview
We are looking for:
The Application Development Solutions team is focused on developing capabilities that drive deeper technical understanding of customer applications and how Solvay’s materials can allow them to be successful. These capabilities include specialized testing and method development, virtual & physical prototyping, component teardowns and analysis, and part-level troubleshooting. The ADL Solutions team comprises virtual engineering specialists, lab engineers, and lab researchers who work together closely on projects. This Researcher position will be primarily responsible for non-routine special testing and test method development. Projects will focus on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems as well as characterization of electromagnetic properties of polymeric materials, components, and assemblies. This will involve experimental planning, execution, and sample preparation. The Researcher will work closely with lab engineering staff to perform this work. The researcher will also frequently engage with the entire ADL Solutions team in order to participate in the development and utilization of our whole range of capabilities.
We count on you for:
  • Demonstrates safe laboratory working practices with a focus on continuous improvement. Adheres to all Solvay requirements for safe management of chemicals in the laboratory. Participates in safety audits and safety meetings; closes open audit action items in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with ADL engineers and researchers to design and execute experiments and test methods for various products, process development, application/market specific testing, and prototyping activities. Executes judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
  • Independently solves routine problems following established procedures. Performs basic set-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory or fabrication equipment.
  • Operates low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment safely without direct supervision and assistance.
  • Analyzes data, draws conclusions, and communicates effectively both in written and verbal form. Collects and manages data, makes moderately complex calculations, correlations, and conclusions. Documents results, enters data into relevant systems, and closes requests in a timely manner.
  • The ADL Solutions team is looking for a researcher who is creative, collaborative, and self-directed.
You will bring:
  • Ability to design and prototype electrical testing systems in various laboratory configurations, demonstrating strong visualization skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to negotiate workflow and priorities for multiple independent projects
  • Minimum 2+ years of technical experience performing basic set-up and troubleshooting of electronics, preferably in a laboratory setting. Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, sensors, and other electrical testing equipment
  • High attention to detail and ability to work meticulously to observe and adjust processes and experiments as they progress
  • Associate’s degree in Instrumentation & Electronics Technology or similar
  • Ability to leverage and coordinate resources and team expertise as needed to execute projects
You will get:
  • Competitive salary (Assess the possibility to add salary range in the job ad) and benefits package
  • Training platform for all employees
  • 16 weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave
  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
  • Free language courses (24 languages available)
  • Free well-being sessions (physical and psychological)
