Job Description
The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a Research Data Analyst I to join the Chesler Lab. The role requires a highly motivated, innovative, driven, and independent analyst who will perform analysis of complex systems data – including genomics, behavior, and other modalities of data. The qualified candidate will have the ability to plan, execute, visualize, report, and interpret analytic results, and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of scientists from diverse disciplines.

This is a highly collaborative and integrated environment with multiple projects. The analyst will work under the direct supervision of a manager who will determine assignments, prioritize projects, assess progress, and provide mentorship and expert guidance. The position requires someone who can independently plan and execute work, is self-motivated, and organized, knows when to seek guidance from others, and can deliver in a timely manner.

This is a hybrid position with an expected onsite presence in Bar Harbor, ME at least 2 days per week. An alternative work arrangement may be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Process, visualize, and analyze complex systems genetics data
  • Assist in writing manuscripts and reports, present at scientific conferences, and interpret analytical results
  • Implement analytical pipelines and summarize results

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated team player with a professional, positive attitude and willingness to be flexible
  • Exceptional computer skills, and ability to develop technical documents, databases and presentations
  • Bachelor's degree in the Computational or Biological Sciences is required. A Master's degree is preferred. Incumbents who have not achieved a Master’s degree may compensate for lack of a degree with at least 1-2 years of professional bioinformatics work experience. Works under close supervision.
  • Performs statistical analysis, creates visualizations, and interprets analytical results. Experience with model organism data and/or addiction research is a plus.
  • Ability to set priorities, balance different projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated skill in effective and professional oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated success in conducting multiple, concurrent assignments or a multi-faceted project
  • Ability to interact with all individuals in a productive, professional and positive manner to enhance the outcome of the goals of the research program.
  • Proficient in R and/or Python. Experience with bash and computing on a cluster is a plus.
The salary range is $48,916.1 - $84,082.57. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
