The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has a great opportunity for a Research Associate 3. The Research Associate 3 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Performs and assists other research staff with standard laboratory techniques.
- Keeps abreast of latest literature in the field and searches for references to technical problems.
- Maintains daily operations and performs procedures related to new and on-going research projects.
- Assists with the maintenance of institutional biosafety and animal care protocols, laboratory safety records, and standard operating procedures.
- Partner with community-based organizations to extend the outreach and dissemination of cancer information and advances to underrepresented communities.
- Disseminate culturally appropriate, evidence-based information and educational materials on cancer prevention and treatment.
- Develops, adapts, and implements new laboratory procedures.
- Empower the community and influence behavior change.
- Assists with ordering, purchasing, and maintenance of all required reagents and supplies for laboratory activities, and monitors and maintains inventory of supplies and stocks.
- Records, organizes, and writes up experimental results for submission of manuscripts and for scientific presentations.
- Assess baseline information on community’s health needs and resources.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of education/outreach activities Increase awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatments adapted for targeted audiences/communities.
- Develop a long-term education/outreach plan to address local cancer health disparities.
- Develop and maintain community partnerships with local organizations and health care providers to develop and promote SCCC outreach and programmatic initiatives.
- Maintains current knowledge of the methods and techniques related to the specific field of research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required
