The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
HJF is seeking a Nurse Educator to coordinate and teach PhD in Nursing Science courses with the Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) at the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland. The Nurse Educator participates in the planning and implementation of scholarship requirements for the program and teaches program curricula and is responsible for ensuring compliance with educational standards and guidelines published by accrediting bodies for graduate nursing education.
Note: This site requires that the incumbent has lived in the US for three out of the past five years.
- Prepare graduate students for advanced clinical, functional and leadership roles.
- Advise, evaluate, mentor and support students in academic, clinical environments, and scholarly endeavors including portfolios and all stages of the DNP project development and dissemination Provide feedback to course coordinators about curriculum revisions.
- Ensure compliance with individual and institutional regulatory, licensure, professional, ethical and accreditation standards while participating in GSN processes to evaluate and improve academic policies, May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
- Teach/coordinate courses assigned by leadership and program chair.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Show respect for diversity and fairness and comply with published GSN guiding principles.
- Communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and support/assist internal and external customers and co-workers.
- Board-certified family, adult, or women’s health nurse practitioner.
- Experience teaching advanced practice core sciences; specialty courses and/or evidence-based practice will be given priority.
- Evidence of competency in the evidence-based inquiry processes.
- This position will take place primarily in a office setting.
Education and Experience
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 6-8 experience required.
- Holds current APRN nursing and RN license
Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check if applicable.
