Research Associate I Jobs

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly-motivated and proactive individual to join our Sample Preparation – RNA Purification R&D team as a Research Associate I. The successful candidate will work side by side with some of the most talented people in biotechnology across multiple teams and collaborative partners and will participate in independent product research efforts targeting the development of novel technologies and devices for nucleic acid purification in clinical and diagnostic applications.

The applicant will leverage their skills and familiarity with a range of molecular biology or biochemical assays, as well as data analysis expertise, to efficiently manage a scientific research project and communicate and interpret data results effectively. The successful candidate will also be a quick learner, have a strong interest in science, and be passionate about a career in research.

This position is a full-time and fully onsite role based in our Zymo Research facility in Tustin, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and write project protocols and methodology for developed research components.
• Discuss and analyze experiments with the Principal Investigator
• Maintain a detailed and well-organized laboratory notebook
• Present project updates at meetings with the Principal Investigator, team, or across other groups within the company
• Review and apply relevant literature and technical documentation as needed
• Maintain equipment and contribute to the organization and inventory systems of the laboratory.
• Assist in experimental design and independently conduct scientific experiments for product development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform quality control tests for our kits and products.
• Contribute and edit scientific content for newsletters, marketing efforts, and other related material.
• Provide technical support for incoming customer inquiries.

Education and Work Experience:

• Experience performing molecular, biochemical, and cell biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, nucleic acid purification etc.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• BS or MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field.
• Attention to details and accuracy.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $64,480 per annum at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
