Position Summary

We are looking to hire a Research Assistant to work closely with lab team members to assist with research study, experiments, preparation of materials, and documentation. This position involves working with small animal models.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
• Processes human blood samples and tissues in compliance with regulatory protocols for research studies.
• Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
• Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
• Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
• Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators.
• Conducts research experiments and assays.
• Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Evaluates research results, reporting findings and discussing project outcomes with staff involved.
• Performs literature searches on specified topics.

Working Conditions

Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Reliable and consistently demonstrates both a strong work ethic and effective time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research and record findings, with focus on pursuit of advanced education in field.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with two years of experience in laboratory operations.

Salary Range

$16.24 - $27.63 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
