Research Assistant Full-Time Position

SolarBiotech is developing novel technologies to accelerate the commercialization of Cell Agriculture products. We are building a team of multidisciplinary experts passionate about making a world-changing impact on food production sustainability, over traditional agricultural methods, and improving the abundance of food to the world in the challenging decades to come.

SolarBiotech is seeking highly motivated Biochemistry or Microbiology Research.

Associate to join our team at our research facility in Norton, VA. The selected candidate will be trained and tasked to carry out biochemical and microbiological assays and work on lab and pilot-scale fermentation tasks. The successful candidate should have a B.Sc. or higher degree in biochemistry, microbiology, or a closely related field.

The Research Assistant will have a chance to participate in industrial biotechnology projects, help with process development in multiple projects, and analyze and report results to the project teams.

Cell Agriculture, also known as Synthetic Biology, is a rapidly growing industry. It has one of the main goals to make the production of food and cosmetic ingredients and other vital products more sustainable using non-animal cells. The Research Assistant will be interacting with scientists, engineers, operators, and managers and be part of a team focused on delivering tangible value for the company’s stakeholders.

The MainResearch Assistant’s Responsibilitieswill include, but will not limited to:

•Analytical support:bioprocess support for all the bioprocess stages, new protocols implementation, and development, continuous training on new methods and equipment.

•Microbiology and fermentation: work with the supervising scientist on process deployment for different projects at lab-scale and the plant scale, media preparation, sampling, process monitoring, and troubleshooting.

•General lab activities:reports preparation, maintenance of chemical inventory and chemical ordering, glassware washing, and sterilization.

Key Qualifications:

• Degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related discipline.

• Laboratory hands-on experience.

• Attentive to detail, observative, and able to focus on the assigned tasks, hardworking, and responsible.
