Job Description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a Research Assistant will primarily assist in the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for various research studies in the Department. The Research Assistant will interact with the investigators and collaborators in a research environment. This person will be writing, running, and analyzing standard and non-standard reports. This person will also assist in carrying out investigations for different imaging modalities concerned with processing and analyzing data, as well as the computational implementation of prototype methods and simulations, including network valued data.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
Perform data collection and analysis under the supervision of Sr. researchers.
Implement software for network machine learning.
Maintain paper and computerized research files.
Participate in weekly research group meetings with the PI as well as with related collaborators in this project.
Prepare mandatory reports and documents/protocols.
Present and communicate results and progress updates clearly.
Conduct literature searches to support the manager and the PI.
Contribute and maintain open-source software contributions.
Other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Adequate knowledge network analysis machine learning.
Familiarity and experience with programming, particularly for numerical simulations.
Familiarity with machine learning coding frameworks (SciPy and Sklearn).
Willingness to learn specialized software used in the research.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Some related experience.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in related discipline.
Some related experience.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
