Position Summary
MSU, Department of Medicine, Division of Occupational Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant I/S. The individual will coordinate and conduct public health activities for elevated heavy metal laboratory reports. The research is epidemiological research. There is no laboratory work. A large percentage of the time requires computer work. The individual will work closely with other members of the Division and individuals in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The candidate selected will supervise one individual who will do interviewing and office work required to contact persons having elevated heavy metal levels. The position has an end date of September 30, 2024, with the possibility of extension.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Will provide first level supervision over regular and student employees.
A master level degree with skills in epidemiology and statistical analysis.
