Job Description
Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedResearch Assistant - Biological Sciencesat its Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (job Duties)


  • Work in a Linux environment at the command line to use image registration and other
  • Perform histology using iDISCO to render tissue optically transparent


related tools


  • Assist with the collection and/or processing of brain samples
  • Optimize image registration parameters
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Write and integrate simple Python and/or R scripts with command line tools
  • Train machine learning algorithms to identify cells from 3D brain image


Qualifications


Minimum of a bachelor's degree in the sciences or engineering (e.g., biology,


neuroscience, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, chemistry, physics, etc.)


  • Intermediate proficiency working in Python or R
  • Basic understanding of image processing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with people from different
  • Comfortable working at the command line and in a Linux environment
  • Strong quantitative reasoning skills

  • Able to work both independently and with others


Preferred Qualifications


Prior experience working with animals (zebrafish or rodents)


  • Wet lab research experience
  • Experience in supervision
