Position Summary

The Replenishment Buyer is responsible for the successful execution of supply planning, purchasing and inventory management activities for an assigned portfolio of direct materials (ingredients and/or packaging) in support of Bakkavor’s manufacturing production plans and customer expectations. To be successful, this position must balance multiple objectives including established sourcing strategies, material costs & minimum order quantities, days on hand targets, production scheduling, demand planning and quality assurance. This position requires strong cross functional collaboration, critical thinking skills and business judgement – all while maintaining high levels of food safety, product quality and service to our customers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Implements supply planning and material inventory strategies for assigned portfolio, that optimizes total cost of ownership while providing outstanding service levels to Bakkavor’s operations and our customers
  • Confirms all details of purchase orders with suppliers including price, material specifications and delivery dates to ensure on-time and complete deliveries
  • Supports new product development activity as requested by ordering samples for new materials, establishing supply plans to ensure successful and on time product launches
  • Establishes strong relationship with suppliers, coordinating and collaborating with Bakkavor’s Central Procurement team by providing feedback & input on supplier performance, participating in periodic business reviews as appropriate
  • Identifies value creation opportunities to lower total cost of ownership while ensuring supply
  • Mitigates obsolescence related to product discontinuations and/or forecast reductions by providing timely and accurate inventory details including run out dates and inventory values; identifies alternative uses and initiates the internal process to obtain approvals for such use, collaborates cross site as needed to share materials and mitigate risk.
  • Proactively identifies delivery risks; develops and communicates alternatives to minimize business impact
  • Manages the Procure-to-Pay process to include purchase order creation as required to maintain targeted inventory levels ensuring price aligns with established customer agreements, material standards and/or contracted prices; resolves and/or escalates quality non-conformances, receiving & invoice discrepancies

Position requirements:

  • Adept at managing change and working through ambiguity to identify and drive to a solution, both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ability to understand and work with multiple ERP systems
  • Highly organized with a process & project management mindset to successfully perform in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, requirements and stakeholders
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and organizational excellence with a positive winning attitude and high energy level
  • Analytical and data driven mindset with the ability to perform financial and mathematical calculations to support / substantiate decisions
  • 3-5 years’ experience preferably within the food manufacturing sector
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Finance or Economics
  • Professional certification in Supply Management preferred: CPM, APICS-CPIM
