Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist, Energy Storage


Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)


This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.


The Permitting Environmental Specialist role will take ownership of the environmental permitting analysis, filings, zoning, and environmental compliance administration aspects of the utility-scale renewables portfolio to ensure project development milestones are being met. Experience with environmental wetland, ESA Phase I, cultural resource surveys, and T&E Species reports is requried.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist - Plays a key role in supporting multiple projects nationwide through the full-lifecycle environmental permitting process for utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist - Evaluates local, state, and federal environmental permitting regulations then works with team on drafting permitting plans (including zoning analysis) for target renewable energy project sites.
  • Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist - Works cross-functionally with various departments to ensure consistency environmental design and project permitting requirements.
  • Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist - Reviews and provides analysis on environmental siting and permitting plans.
  • Renewables Environmental Permitting Specialist - Facilitates environmental assessments including but not limited to wetlands, ESA Phase I, cultural resource surveys, and T&E Species reports.
  • Acts as main point of contact to environmental permitting agencies and regulatory agencies for information request required to obtain project permits. This includes preparing/submitting environmental permitting applications and supporting/participating in public hearings.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • MUST have environmental assessment experience dealing with wetland, ESA Phase I, cultural resource surveys, and T&E Species reports
  • Project development permitting and environmental experience with recent work supporting the Power/Renewable Energy Infrastructure Sector (battery storage, solar, hydrogen, wind farms..etc)
  • Experience with environmental zoning analysis and environmental permitting plans for prospective energy infrastructure sites
  • Understanding of national energy markets as they relate to environmental permitting requirements PREFERRED - PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, WECC, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO
  • Ability to work hands-on with Project Developers and develop presentations on permitting/environmental project risk, permit filings, and environmental development compliance requirements; Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to participate in advance level discussions in the utility-scale renewables, transmission, and battery storage space
