Description
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Ideal candidates will live in the state of Indiana or within 50 miles of one of our Pulse Point locations.
This role is part of Elevance Health’s first shift in the Security Operations Center which supports the weekday hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Eastern Time.
REMOTE Tier 1 SOC Analyst ( Security Analyst Senior)
The Tier 1 SOC Analyst is responsible for ongoing detection and response in the Elevance Health enterprise network. This includes intake, triage, investigation and remediation of security incidents.
How You Will Make An Impact
  • Monitor the SOC Triage Channel for security events, analyze events for evidence of compromise.
  • Partner with other members of the SOC team to provide 24x7 coverage, communicate issues and ensure proper case turnover.
  • Serve as work area experts for security/information assurance policy recommendations.
  • Perform triage and investigations on DLP alerts.
  • Document and maintain a knowledge base of alarms (false positives and false negatives, blacklists, whitelists) that IDS and IPS encounter.
  • Escalate incidents to applicable entities for remediation.
  • Build relationships with other business units to strengthen security posture throughout the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and partner with SOC leaders to drive action.
  • Close or escalate security events, as necessary.
  • Leverage SIEM, SOAR, EDR, NDR and other security tools to analyze alerts and determine the appropriate next steps.
  • Provide analysis and investigation to determine if alerts or security events warrant incident classification.
  • Perform the detailed and repeatable execution of all operational tasks as documented in SOC processes and subordinate procedures.
  • Gather intelligence from sources outside the SOC (both internal and external sources) and leverage for operations.
  • Ensure security events and incidents are detected and escalated in a timely manner.
  • Track incidents through final resolution.
  • Document findings in case files and/or SOAR tickets.
  • Identify impact of incidents on systems and use available tools determine if data was exposed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a support & operations or design & engineering role in any of the following areas: access management or network security technologies, servers, networks, Network communications, telecommunications, operating systems, middleware, disaster recovery, collaboration technologies, hardware/software support or other infrastructure services role; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities And Experiences
  • Fundamental understanding of computer operating systems, networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, ICMP) & technologies strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Security Information & Event Management (SIEM), SOAR, EDR, NDR, IAM and other security technologies strongly preferred.
  • Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) skills and/or experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Malware analysis or reverse engineering skills and/or experience preferred.
  • Programming or scripting skills (e.g. Python, Powershell, C++, Java) preferred.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $92,480 to $166,464.
