Job Description

The Emerging Corp Relationship Manager - Life Science is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for portfolio management & acquisition of Life Science clients who need financial services and products to meet their needs
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing client relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Engage in dialogue with CEO and CFO levels regarding the clients industry and alternative capital structures
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments
  • Actively build a pipeline, call on clients and develop relationships at multiple levels across the client’s organization
  • Candidates should be prepared to meet challenging client requirements, provide value added services and should possess strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Assess the risks and impacts from both the clients and the banks perspective for development and implementation of overall client strategy
  • Proven sales management and business development skills
  • Strong creative solution and problem solving abilities

  • Active member/participation in local network and community organizations
  • Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlines. Adaptable, managing changing priorities and have the ability to work well under pressure while multi-tasking.
  • Ability to partner across lines of businesses and leverage internal resources as well as maintaining relationships with industry contacts
  • Demonstrate excellent presence and interpersonal skills that allow development of relationships at multiple levels within the client organization
  • Possess superior business development focus and demonstrate innovative financial solutions and structures to client situations
  • Demonstrate strong financial and analytic skills and ability to rapidly assimilate complex information
  • Be highly adaptable and goal oriented individual who must meet stretch targets in a fast paced and complex environment
  • In-depth knowledge cash management knowledge
  • Proven leadership, management, and client relationship skills, as well as extensive industry and product knowledge, and strong transaction execution skills
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and control framework
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Commercial Banking’s business model and products
  • Be highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate priorities, and ensure resources are properly aligned
  • Thrive in a flat organizational structure leveraging talented junior resources to meet personal and business goals
  • Strategic thinker who supports the goals and direction of the firm
  • Excellent client relationship skills; successful at delivering the entire firm to the client
  • Able to demonstrate sound credit judgement during transaction structuring and present compelling proposals to credit officers and secure buy in. Formal credit training required.
  • 5-7 years of related relationship management experience in the Healthcare & Life Sciences, including connectivity with early stage and venture capital community; plus proven leadership, management, execution and influencing skills with a demonstrated track record of developing talent and partnering across business lines.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and used to work in an entrepreneurial environment that facilitates building out a world class Life Science segment
  • Possess superior communication, persuasion, and influence skills that facilitate successful client pitches and proposals

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Masters degree preferred
