Description:

Our Vascular Access (VAT) team includes RN’s and LPN’s who provide vascular access services throughout the hospital setting. Responsible for initiation of IV placement with routine site and dressing changes, CVAD dressing changes, CVAD troubleshooting including TPA administration, accessing and de-accessing implanted port systems, administering PPD/allergy panels, consult and treatment of extravasations, teaching peers and medical residents and obtaining laboratory specimens as needed. Our nurses are experts. We have a nurse driven Line Strategy and Bedside PICC insertion team to consult, collaborate with providers to ensure the best access is utilized and perform bedside PICC insertions.

What you will do:

  • Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff.
  • Bedside PICC insertions.
  • Collaborative team approach.
  • Consult, assessment and insertion of vascular access devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York. Graduate Nurses or RN’s with less than 1 year of experience please apply to the GN residency postings.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Participates in orientation, continuing education to stay current with practice and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
  • National certification is promoted and supported for clinical ladder growth.

Physical Demands:
