Job Description

Registered Nurse - Infusion

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physicians.

(This position will support our Rheumatology team at our SouthPark location).

Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Services:

  • Initiate laboratory procedures in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and quality control methods; CLIA-waived testing; Capillary punctures and venipunctures
  • Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
  • Medication refills
  • Monitor and check assigned Athena boxes and other assigned boxes for coverage.
  • Assists with minor surgery including surgical tray set-up pre/post-surgical care, applying dressings, and suture removal
  • Clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections;
  • Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
  • Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Manage and monitor the Infusion center; perform blood draws as indicated; complete infusions and monitor multiple patients while they are infusing.
  • Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
  • Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.
  • Lab reconciliation.
  • Give instructions to patients/families as instructed by physician or physician assistant
  • Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Order entry with EHR
  • Administers injections
  • Work at different Tryon office locations as needed.
  • Starting IV’s and administering IV fluids
  • Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.


Requirements:


Education and Certifications:

  • Knowledge of infusion medication preferred.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • RN degree. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Current state registered nurse license.
  • Maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • Completion of TB test will be required.

Experience:

  • Two years RN experience preferred.
  • E.H.R. utilization

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Use of computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to concentrate on details.
