Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to serve as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) providing medical care to assigned individuals. Performs general medical evaluations and provides ongoing medical care and relevant diagnostic and treatment services. Makes regular rounds evaluating individual’s medical progress. Provides emergency care when nursing staff identify an acute medical/psychiatric need. Participates and serves on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
Job Responsibilities
- Makes regular rounds evaluating individual’s medical progress.
- In collaboration with a licensed Physician, serves as an APN providing medical care to assigned individuals.
- Provides emergency care when nursing staff identify an acute medical/psychiatric need and request an individual be seen immediately.
- Serves as an active and contributing member on assigned committees, staff meetings, teaching conferences and clinical committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires current licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to serve on-call after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
- Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
