• OPENINGS FOR FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD SHIFTS****

Summary

Renders good nursing care and assistance to patients assigned to the unit; assists in supervising auxiliary personnel responsible for helping maintain accurate patient records according to facility policy.

Specific Duties

In addition to basic CNA duties:

• Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient.
• Maintains patient’s medical records on nursing observations and actions taken, such as; medications and treatments given reactions, tests, intake and emission of liquids and solids, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Takes vital signs to detect deviations from normal and gage process of the patient.
• Assist the Supervisor by participating in all activities of nursing service to ensure good patient care.
• Know your Fire, Safety, and Disaster Manual, and facility plan for evacuation, and Be Prepared to Implement it.
• Observes records and reports to nurse or physician patient’s condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Meet the schedule for patient care and continuous in-service education.
• Prepares equipment and assists the physician during treatments or examinations.
• When in charge of the facility, assume the full responsibility of the charge nurse. Some of the specific duties involved are:
• Administers prescribed medications orally and Insulin by injection. Also, duties are described in Med Tech class.
• Changes or assists the physician in changing dressings, and cleaning wounds and incisions.

Medication Aide

• Explains procedures and treatments ordered to gain patient’s cooperation and allay apprehension. J. Must report to on-coming Med Tech, at the change of each tour of duty, from cardex. Also must check narcotics with on—coming tech, if applicable.4. Assumes responsibility for promoting good relationships among co-workers, other departments, patients, their families, and visitors.
• Responsible to access need of Resident to have a nurse come to check Resident, if symptomatic.
• Responsibility to see all work completed on your shift, related to patient care.
• Assumes responsibility for her professional growth and development through participation in in-service programs and by attending staff meetings.
• It is the responsibility of all staff nurses to participate in the orientation of new personnel.
• Be conservative with supplies and equipment.
• Observes the emotional stability of patients express interest in their progress and prepare them for continuing care after discharge.

Responsible for making sure laundry is completed on your shift.

• Perform other duties, as may be required, to ensure a high level of patient safety.
• Replace call-ins or stay to cover yourself.

Education

Certified Nursing Assistant-Graduate of Nurse Aide Training. Current Registration with the Virginia State Board of Nursing.

• Licensed Medication Aide
• First Aid CPR/AED Certified

Location: THE LANDMARK CENTER, STUART VA

• 100% Continuing Education Unit (“CEU”) & License Renewal reimbursement will be provided with a maximum of $300.00 per employee per year for those employees required to obtain CEU's or license renewal to maintain certification/licensure.
