Position Summary


The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the field operations of a Region for DSI. They play a crucial role in ensuring that field activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company policies and procedures. The Operations Manager coordinates with regional director, site managers, supervisors, and other departments to achieve operational objectives and deliver high-quality services to clients or customers.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


Field Operations Planning and Strategy:


  • Conduct regular analysis and evaluation of field operations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and targets for field operations.
  • Develop and implement field operations strategies, plans, and procedures to achieve operational goals and objectives.


Team Management And Leadership


  • Work with Human Resources and recruiters to source experienced and qualified field staff.
  • Develop field personnel ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Lead, train, mentor and supervise field teams, including site managers, supervisors, foreman, and support staff.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to field teams and ensure proper coordination, communication, and collaboration.


Resource Management


  • Monitor and control expenses related to field operations to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Optimize resource utilization to achieve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage and allocate resources required for field operations, including personnel, equipment, vehicles, and materials.


Field Service Delivery


  • Address any issues or concerns related to service delivery promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure the timely and effective delivery of field services or products to clients or customers.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with DSI's policies, procedures, quality standards, and customer expectations.


Safety And Compliance


  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and legal requirements related to field operations.
  • Work with Safety Department and Personnel to ensure field compliance and communication.
  • Enforce DSI's safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for field personnel.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.


Performance Monitoring And Reporting


  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on field operations performance for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze data and metrics to assess performance against KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement performance monitoring systems to track and evaluate the performance of field operations.


Stakeholder Management


  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as project managers, sales teams, and support departments, to ensure seamless coordination between field operations and other functions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities.


Related Experience And Educational Requirements


  • Familiarity with construction means and methods applicable to utility scale solar and substation installations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements in the relevant industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic field environments.
  • 5+ years in construction, with 2+ years minimum in utility scale solar in a site manager/superintendent or equivalent role.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in industry standard software programs and proficiency in using technology and software systems for field operations management.
  • Sound knowledge of field operations planning, logistics, and resource management.
  • Experience and ability to understand and interpret contracts, in reading and understanding specifications, technical reports and construction drawings including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and SCADA systems. Familiarity with building and electrical codes is a plus.
  • Demonstrated high level of judgment - can sensitively apply knowledge and skills to select practical, effective courses of action and able to keep sensitive information confidential.
  • Proven experience in field operations management or a similar role.
  • Willingness to frequently travel and work outside of regular business hours.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.


Other Requirements


  • Possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Remain outside for multiple hours in hot or cold weather at construction sites.
  • Regular scheduled and unscheduled travel to regional projects, as performance of regional projects dictate,
