Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Regional Nurse Administrator for the Child Health Program within the School of Nursing. The Regional Nurse Administrator (RNA) is the key nursing administrator representing the Child Health Program (CHP) within the assigned New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF)/Child Protection and Permanency (CP&P) area. The RNA provides administrative and clinical oversight and supervision of CHP personnel, as well as the direction of nursing clinical systems and activities for an assigned DCF/CP&P area.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Represents CHP and CHP leadership at various meetings with DCF/CP&P, as well as community service organizations, health care providers/facilities, and parent organizations.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the CHU staff in delivering educational and health related trainings to DCF/CP&P staff, caregivers and community providers within an assigned DCF/CP&P area.
  • Provides assistance when accidents or illness occur in workplace emergencies; performs CPR as indicated; and notifies 911 and supervisor.
  • Prepares required CHP administrative reports and submits them to program support staff in a timely and complete manner.
  • Delivers direct clinical nursing services, such as providing a nursing placement assessment or nursing case consultation, as necessary and requested.
  • Assists the Director and Assistant Directors (AD) with other activities as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or BA / BS degree in a health related field required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years pediatric nursing experience required.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey required.
  • Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Vehicle and valid New Jersey license required for regional/statewide travel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • This position requires computer literacy/computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a health related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of community health nursing, nursing case management, or nursing care of vulnerable families preferred.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
