Job Description
Responsibilities:
Valley Health Physician Alliance has an established footprint across the city and, in conjunction with the entire Valley Health System network of hospitals, outpatient facilities, and behavioral health centers, continues to grow and demonstrate its leadership position in the industry. Offering a network of primary care practices, cardiothoracic, bariatric, gastroenterology, general, and orthopedic surgeons; our group works cohesively to achieve consistent quality outcomes.

Position Summary:
  • Directly communicates with the clinics, referred to clinics, and patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Scheduling referrals for patients, providers, pre-authorizing & pre-certifying tests/procedures.
  • Covers at other clinics as a receptionist as requested.
  • Communicates information to appropriate areas, departments, and individuals.
  • Reviews clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies.
  • Scheduling of other tests with facilities at the request of providers and/or staff.

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.
  • Required effective interpersonal skills and excellent written, oral communication skills required.
  • Patient Management, Billing and Managed Care system processes competency. Understanding of functions and workflow of Clinical/Hospital
  • Acute healthcare knowledge and ability to evaluate clinical data to acquire pre-authorizations and referrals is preferred. Knowledge of third-party reimbursement regulations is preferred.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Knowledge of clinical terminology, insurance billing, procedural and diagnosis coding, federal and state insurance regulations, and HIPAA privacy standards is strongly preferred.
