Located in Baltimore’s cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital with a focus on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

General Summary

The primary function of this position is to coordinate the referral process for the Practice and assure that the patients’ needs are met in a timely and efficient manager. It is a required function to not only interact directly with the patients in making referrals, but physicians, managed care organizations and co-workers, ensuring that the referral process is precisely complete. This position requires informing practice support staff about referral protocols. This person oversees the paperwork associated with the referral process-from the referral forms to completion of the referral logs and submitting of the monthly reports.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Previous Medical receptionist experience or background in general office work required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Prior experience and demonstrated competence with patient or customer information systems.
• Interpersonal skills, customer orientation and an outgoing and pleasant demeanor.
• Ability to interact with personnel of all levels within the organization and work within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.
