Schedule Weekly Hours:

40

Primarily Monday through Friday with some flexibility in hours every day. Generally 8:00am -4:30pm. Weekends optional depending on unit activities. No holidays.

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is responsible for programming that encompasses treatment, leisure education and recreation participation. Through the use of assessments and therapeutic interventions, the CTRS plans, implements, coordinates and educates to promote a healthy leisure lifestyle. The CTRS collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care in accordance with the vision and mission of Gundersen Health System. The CTRS utilizes treatment modalities according to ATRA and NTRS Standards of Practice.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Works with patients/client to evaluate, treat and educate to promote overall health and wellness through leisure activity participation in the home and in the community.

2. Develops and implements appropriate individualized treatment through the use of individual and group work.

3. Participates in departmental and multidisciplinary review, Quality Improvement activities, Staff Development and Patient Care issues.

4. Responsible for completing documentation within established departmental standards.

5. Pursues relevant educational opportunities to maintain or enhance professional knowledge and meet departmental needs.

6. Performs other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

1 year previous experience in healthcare

DESIRED

1 year previous experience working in behavioral health

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) within 6 months of hire date Valid Driver's License (DL)

DESIRED

Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
