Job Description
Records Clerk Description/Job Summary


The Records Clerk is responsible for assisting the Information Governance Supervisor in all aspects of operations by processing legal documents, maintaining files, responding to requests and performing general administrative duties.


Responsibilities/Duties
  • Maintain files:
  • Opens new file/subfile folders
  • Review material prior to updating database
  • Enter identifying document information into FileTrail RMS
  • Close files and prepare them for shipment to the off-site storage
  • Indexes documents, assembles file material
  • Processes new material for client matter files
  • Process legal documents:
  • Updates Records Department system, FileTrail
  • Place material on shelves in proper client matter order
  • Prepares documents and files for imaging
  • Create files for correspondence and memoranda folders
  • Shift files on shelves to create space as needed


Required Skills


  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing
  • Basic reasoning skills to conduct searches and understand the needs of the legal staff
  • Data entry skills


Preferred Skills


  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Experience with at least one RMS such as FileTrail or LegalKey, preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred


Required Education


  • High school diploma required


Preferred Education


  • Associate’s degree preferred

This is a 6 month contract role with possibility of extension. The position is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible.
