Job Description

The Position

Real Estate Analyst – a key contributor of a small team to support real estate investment and asset management efforts within the overall investment portfolio. The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial culture with a very substantial responsibility.


Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the transition of the real estate investment platform from a capital allocation model (via commingled funds) toward direct investing via joint venture with high-quality sponsors. In addition to investment activities, the role will also include asset management responsibilities of the overall real estate portfolio (funds and JVs) as well as coordination of the overall investment portfolio.


  • Analytical support of investment underwriting and due diligence:
  • Work with Director of Real Estate to implement real estate investment strategy

o Create and maintain project proforma using Excel and/or Argus

o Complete in-depth market research and detailed rent & sales comp analysis

o Liaise with internal and external partners to coordinate information exchange and review during due diligence

  • Participate in the preparation of Investment Committee:

o Assist with Investment Committee memo and attend meetings to gain exposure to all aspects of an investment portfolio

o Present data analysis with objective conclusions to support investment and asset management decisions

  • Real estate portfolio management support:

o Coordinate with construction consultants to monitor properties under construction and with property managers for stabilized properties & projects in lease-up

o Prepare business plan updates based on property-level operational strategies

o Prepare quarterly and annual performance forecast and asset valuations

o Monitor property level liquidity and assist Operations Team on funding requests and distributions

  • Continuously develop and enhance knowledge of target markets:

o Build and maintain positive relationships with local brokers, sponsors, and third-party vendors

o Maintain internal database of market reports and OMs

o Assist with deal sourcing and tracking industry trends

  • Investment Portfolio support

o Collaborate with Investment Team and Operations on portfolio level reporting and analysis


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Knowledge and/or experience in multifamily and industrial real estate
