Job Description

Stand InBalance is hiring for a reliable, physically fit team member to assist in caring for our horses and donkeys, and creating a professional ranch environment. You must be able to work independently, be dependable, timely and organized with a positive attitude and good people skills. This is an ideal position for a self-motivated individual able to take direction, execute tasks in a timely and accurate manner, and willing to learn about providing quality horse care in the context of a personal growth center.

Hours: 28-35, must be available WED-SUN (wed, thurs, fri, sat, sun)

We are located on a small ranch, that provides equine assisted growth, learning, and psychotherapy to children and adults. We do not provide riding lessons or therapeutic riding — all of our equines have been rescued or re-homed and the majority of our work is conducted on the ground. In addition to providing equine and ranch care, you will be assisting with client safety at various times.

Tasks include: · Brush and groom, feed, handle and exercise horses, and lead them to their stalls and to session areas. · Check horses & donkeys for lameness, common injuries, ailments and infections · Give first aid, medication or other treatment to equines as needed, follow care instructions provided by vets, focusing on the health and wellbeing of each assigned equine animal. · Exercise horses & donkeys by walking, leading & Natural Horsemanship based on their care plans. · Clean and maintain work areas, stall areas, grooming tools, tack, storage sheds, etc. · Perform minor repairs on fixtures, buildings and fences, etc. · Check Inventory and Supply orders, vaccine schedules, basic health care – deworming & minor injuries · Observe and report behaviors in the horses that could indicate issues with the client, the horse or the overall well- being of any person or animal involved in Stand InBalance programming.

Requirements

• Familiar with and able or willing to learn how to provide Natural Horsemanship principles to interaction with and care of equines. • Willing to learn equine First Aid and other skills • Ability to handle physically demanding job requirements, able to lift 50lbs • Ability to handle outdoor working conditions in all weather • Must be a team player • Good verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and consistently follow through • Positive, enthusiastic, personable, and flexible • Able to strictly maintain and protect patient information and privacy • Willing to submit to a personal and criminal background check
