Position Summary:
Nusano has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our Salt Lake City Utah facility. This Mechanical Engineer will work with the Mechanical Engineering team to provide support for development of a radioisotope production facility. To execute this project, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven, provide diverse perspectives, and who have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits. This team member will be primarily responsible for supporting the Radiochemistry group, while also collaborating closely with others on the Development & Engineering (D&E) team to identify critical engineering needs as well as opportunities to optimize component designs and radiochemistry processes.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:

• Manage all aspects of the fabrication of components, which sometimes include multiple, complex pieces, Install, test, commission, and support through the lifetime of custom equipment
• Present project results and designs and respond to questions concerning engineering design and operation Work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment
• Perform with a personal safety mindset at the forefront of all work
• Give and receive directions and communicate effectively across all teams within D&E
• Develop test plans and participate in tests in qualify and evaluate the performance of equipment
• Collaborate with both chemists and accelerator physicists, as well as engineers and technical support staff, to develop designs for complex new devices requiring innovative designs and critical high-level analysis
• Determine, author, and maintain procedures and documentation to support the equipment
• Translate concepts into detailed engineering drawings, carry out design analysis, identify potential problems, and independently or collaboratively develop solutions
• Continuously strive for highest level of performance
• Own the design of custom equipment required for radiochemistry processes, including systems for remote handling of materials, hot cells, manipulator arms, and diagnostics

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

• Demonstrated analytical thinking and rapid learning
• Experience with pneumatic systems (1+ years)
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD modeling (2+ years)
• Experience with kinematics, linear motion stages, robotics, linkages, and/or mechanism design (2+ years)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience with metrology, precision measurement, inspection, and fine alignment (1+ years)
• Related professional work experience (5+ years)
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google, etc)

Preferred Requirements:

• Master’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience with remote handling of processes and products
• Experience working with a quality program and quality standards
• Experience with hot cells and manipulator arms
• GD&T and P&ID proficiency within ASME Standards
• Leadership experience
• Experience designing for and working within radiation environments
• A love for Salt Lake City
• Manufacturing (welding, brazing, machining, assembly)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working as a radiation worker
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Frequent use of computer with repetitive use of keyboard, mouse and manual dexterity.
• Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
• 2-8 weeks of travel per year for site visits, visiting vendors, and attending conferences
• Work to be conducted in both an office environment and the production facility.

Posted Salary Range
USD $120,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
