The Director of Quality Operations will lead the strategy development and implementation of Quality Operations activities and partner across Global sites for best practices in Manufacturing. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Olympus team and will possess outstanding Quality operational, manufacturing, and Quality system experience/skills. Over and above the technical requirements of operating as the Operations Quality authority, the scope of this position is to serve as a quality partner to Olympus manufacturing sites globally. Operating under the balance of being a “business partner and Quality leader”, the successful candidate will focus on assuring that the Operations Quality structure acts as a value driver.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the Operational Site leads to ensure business needs are met while ensuring the quality of product and compliance of the site. Develop and implement the long-term strategy for continuous improvement to continue to meet those needs and drive efficiency

  • Ensure efficient processes and procedures exist for all aspects of Manufacturing

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, and sustainability of a corporate-wide philosophy of excellence in quality and compliance as an operational mandate for all organizational elements. This philosophy and mandate will be operationally integrated into the “general fabric” of existing business processes in mind.

  • Ensure that the structure supports the business strategy; driving a quality culture cross functionally that prioritizes continuous improvement – identify and leverage best practices across the Olympus manufacturing network

  • Provides leadership, direction, and development for multiple levels of managers across the Quality Operations function

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced technical degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in a technical/leadership role in medical device/regulated industry.

  • Previous people leadership experience required and experience leading the development and technical growth of colleagues to support business transformation.

  • Strong knowledge of quality, validation and manufacturing operations, specific to medical devices.

  • Strong analytical and strategic skills with experiencing solving complex and unique problems to draw conclusions and recommend improvements on a global basis.

  • Knowledge of Integrated Manufacturing Excellence (IMEx) or other lean manufacturing approaches.

  • Will work with global teams, availability will include working across the associated time zones.

  • International and domestic travel up to 15% of the time.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong Quality Engineering background and experience – ASQ-CQE current certification desired.

  • Experience with transformational change and establishing new cultural paradigms is preferred.

  • Skills: Problem Solving, Technical Aptitude, Attention to Detail, Solution Oriented, Effective Verbal and Written Communicator, Quality Engineering Disciplines, Quality Control Disciplines, Quality Systems Disciplines and Strategic Leadership.
