Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing analysis on paper, linerboard, packaging and other raw materials, as required by customers and / or plant departments. He/She coordinates and analyzes, with the help of the Quality Manager, complaint and testing data for tracking and reporting purposes. He/She is involved in the auditing of quality systems, sanitation and maintenance of the standards established by the SQF program and those of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Carry out various laboratory tests.
· Ensure that the testing procedures used are well documented and ensure repeatability and reproducibility;
· Maintain a clean, safe and injury free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are followed;
· Work closely with supervisors and employees to resolve quality issues;
· Assists with inspection of non-conforming product or returns
· Carry out internal audits according to the requirements of the Food Safety Program
· Assists in validating corrective action reports
· Analyze the results obtained in the department and communicates actions needed with the required team members;
· Any other task, as required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Ability to quickly analyze production problems and propose solutions in collaboration with the various stakeholders;
· Ability to adapt to various situations including upset;
· Autonomous and a strong sense of initiative;
· Analytical mind and skill in continuous improvement;
· Ability to meet deadlines and ability to identify urgent situations;
· Comfortable communicating/collaborating with machine operators/supervisors on line side quality testing results and audit results

QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC

· Required High School diploma or GED equivalent

EXPERIENCE

· 1 to 3 years of experience in the manufacturing of corrugated packaging (preferred) or;
· 1 to 3 years of relevant quality lab testing experience in a manufacturing environment
· Knowledge and mastery of systems and software of the Microsoft Office suite;
· Some knowledge of Quality Control systems in required; knowledge of Food Safety standards is a plus;
