Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Quality Engineer This role will be located at our manufacturing plant in Ottawa Ohio. This role will be onsite.

This role will be accountable for the development of a robust Quality Management System for the new refrigerator assembly line at the Ottawa Facility. This Value stream includes assembly line, cabinet forming, door forming, Cabinet foam, door foam, thermoforming, supplier, automation and testing supporting the Built-in Refrigerator and Oberon platforms.

The successful candidate will be accountable to develop Kaizens, QA Matrix as part of the WCM Methodology to improve the Quality KPI’s of the responsible area.

Your responsibilities will include

• Develop Critical Parameter Management (CPM). Establish a Visual Factory Processes to show in real time Process and Product Capability performance to encourage Cp/Cpk improvements
• Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques and encourage the use of WPS-E Pillars techniques to solve problems
• Lead and develop Control Plans for the supporting areas
• Participate in the development of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
• Coordinate containment, Process and Product Audits, Actions Plans, Quick Kaizen, A3, 8D and Major Kaizen to ensure zero quality claims for the customer and the next process on the supply chain
• Lead and Manage multiple projects related to improvement using Kaizen tool
• Develop, coordinate and maintain the Quality KPI’s for the assigned production area to ensure zero quality claims for the customer and the next process on the supply chain.
• Lead and develop Quality Management System for the new assembly line
• Lead and develop the safe launch plan
• Conduct process stability and capability studies on the existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to new processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness
• Support Early Equipment Management (EEM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Pillar from Quality Control (QC) pillar perspective

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 1+ years of quality or manufacturing experience (including internship)

Preferred skills and experiences

• Communication skills (Ability to work at all levels from Plant Leadership to Machine Operator)
• OPEX/Six Sigma Black Belt
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Manage multiple projects at the same time
• Project Management skills. PMP certification
• Experience working in a heavily automated production environment is desired
• Interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to work in a team environment
