We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Traditional Print Division in Columbus, GA!

In this role, you will support the site’s Quality System for lithographic printing plate production, packaging, testing, storage, and planning as a quality engineer. You will also provide up-to-date and accurate specifications, test methods, and procedures for all product quality tests. They monitor product performance and consistency and lead and/or assist Production and Engineering in correcting out-of-control situations. The quality engineer analyzes product performance data and identifies methods to improve the quality and consistency of the products.


The quality engineer will develop a solid understanding of our products and customer applications and lead the manufacturing investigation in customer complaints. During these investigations they will work closely with Plate Application Specialists, Operations, Sales, and Customers to resolve the issue(s). Continuous improvement projects are an important aspect of the quality engineer’s responsibilities. These projects could cover product enhancements, raw material changes, new test methods and equipment, certification of new processes, or commercialization of new products. The quality engineer, as part of the larger manufacturing team, will search out improvement opportunities in product quality as well as yield, efficiency, and cost. They will also monitor the site’s test results and production attributes in SAP and other databases to ensure compliance with specifications and testing frequency and detect trends or other early signs of problems via statistical process control techniques.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Support root cause determination, process improvement and recommendations with data via presentations to key decision makers.
  • Willingness to provide production support during off-hours and limited on-call weekends.
  • Ability to apply inferential and descriptive statistics concepts to data sets.
  • Strong statistical and analytical skills; Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, development, or technical support of lithographic plates is preferred.
  • Preferred experience with an ISO quality management system and/or regulated production environment.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing Quality Assurance is preferred. ASQ CQE certification preferred.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP, MiniTab, PowerPoint, Excel strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences (Chemistry/Chemical Engineering preferred), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to work and succeed in a challenging 24/7 production environment.
