Description


The Quality Assurance Manager position manages all quality aspects to include; ISO and other certification systems, product workmanship standards in compliance with customer specifications, process control monitoring (Shop), incoming materials receipt per customer and supplier specifications, and that employee training records are current.


Key Responsibilities


  • Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends, and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of management team.
  • Visits and confers with representatives of material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain A3 problem solving tool. Support KCM team in daily activities as needed.
  • Work with customer service and sales for all quality concerns or items requiring clarification.
  • Participate in KPD cross site auditing activities.
  • Conducts management meetings with product assurance program department heads to establish, delineate, and review program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Follow and support all safety practices by wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and complying with safety signs and placards, maintaining good housekeeping, communicating unsafe practices and conditions to your local or PD EHS teams, and reporting all safety incidents (including near misses) as they occur.
  • Ensures product shipped in support of customer orders is compliant with customer drawings, quality codes, military or customer specifications and all contractual agreements.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Provide input to annual budgets and monitor to ensure expectations are achieved to include payroll, overtime, and capital purchases.
  • Develops initial and subsequent modifications of product assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program.
  • Cooperates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
  • Visits and confers with customers or prospective customers to obtain information related to product requirements, quality, testing procedures, evaluation criteria and assist in problem solving if required.
  • Trains Quality Control Inspection personnel on quality requirements and inspection techniques.
  • Document and maintain appropriate records and forms in support of KCM or customer quality as required (MRB, Containment Action, Corporate KPI's, SPC's, etc.).
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.
  • Confers with engineers about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems.
  • Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
  • Ownership of control plans and PFMEA's, work with KCM Team to determine leadership activities, create schedules and implement accordingly.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 Certification. Including the scheduling of internal audits and appropriate records.
  • Collect and act upon COPQ data in conjunction with KCM Team. Reduce CCPM in accordance with GDP goals.
  • Evaluates contents of reports from product assurance program department heads and confers with top management personnel preparatory to formulating fiscal budget for product assurance program.
  • May perform periodic evaluation of the inspection process to investigate and recommend changes in an effort to reduce inspection times and improve overall effectiveness.
  • Solicit input and complete annual Quality Inspector employee reviews as scheduled.
  • Trains on selection and use of appropriate inspection equipment including, but not limited to magnifying light source, calipers, digital multi-meters, test equipment, and other measuring devices or fixtures.
  • Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.
  • Monitors and ensures inspector resources are available to meet production needs. Initiate hiring and training of new inspectors as required.


Skills Knowledge And Expertise


  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, statistics, SPC, Weibull distributions, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read and write grammatically proper English, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to understand, speak and read/write Spanish a plus. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in a field related to engineering, science, technology, or mathematics; and/or five years related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Knowledge and experience with ceramic capacitor industry specifications such as MIL-STD-202, MIL-PRF-123, MIL-PRF-55681. Medical implantable and ISO 13485 experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, refugee, or asylee


Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • This position represents a senior level employee. It is assumed the employee filling this position is able to perform with minimum daily direction. Assignments will be made and checked periodically by the Plant Manager. This role will oversee all quality related functions including but not limited to; quality assurance inspectors, technicians and document control clerk(s).

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $90,000 to $120,000.
